Welcome to the third day of our Piano Festival! a very special highlight:
the two pianists, Dante Boon from the Netherlands and Pascal Meyer from Luxembourg.
Together they will perform fascinating works for four hands by Morton Feldman, Tom Johnson and Dante Boon.
PASCAL MEYER
Pascal Meyer is a versatile pianist with a strong commitment to unconventional repertoire.
He is a member of the Luxembourg contemporary music ensemble United Instruments of Lucilin and the trio Machine à trois,
He has appeared at festivals such as Holland Festival, Gaudeamus Muziekweek, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Manifeste, Musica, Rainy Days, Archipel, Ars Musica, Voix Nouvelles Royaumont, Musikhost, and Ciclo de conciertos de música contemporánea.
Recordings with pianist Xenia Pestova Bennett include Karlheinz Stockhausen’s MANTRA and the complete works for two keyboards by John Cage on NAXOS
DANTE BOON
Boon is a Dutch composer and pianist based in Amsterdam.
He became a member of the Wandelweiser composers collective in 2012.
Boon has premiered over 70 works, many of which written specifically for him. He has performed at venues across Europe, Eeast Asia, Canada and the US and recorded numerous albums, solo and otherwise, for labels such as Another Timbre, Edtion Wandelweiser Records and Rhizome.s
He was a guest lecturer at the 13th Wiener Tage für zeitgenössische Klaviermusik hosted by the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. A three-concert musical portrait of Dante Boon was presented in 2012 at Düsseldorf’s Klangraum. In 2013, he was a special guest at Michael Pisaro’s Dog Star Orchestra festival of experimental music. In the same year, a retrospective of Boon’s music was presented at the Los Angeles performance space the wulf. In 2016, Boon was featured as a composer and performer at Quatuor Bozzini’s Performer’s Kitchen (Montreal).
Dante Boon’s CD clarinet (and piano), released in 2016, which features clarinetist Jürg Frey, was recommended by Andy Hamilton in The Wire’s Top 10 albums of contemporary music. The New Yorker called him a pianist with an “uncommon affinity for music that demands patience, steady hands, and a subtle touch.” A solo recital by Boon in New York City in 2018 featuring first performances of works by Antoine Beuger and Anastassis Philippakopoulos was listed by National Sawdust’s Steve Smith in his top 10 of memorable musical events of the year.
