For the second day of our Instore Piano Festival we are focusing on Ipek Eginli as a solo performer:

Ipek Eginli is a Turkish-American experimental sound artist and pianist/improviser who describes her music-making as “a process of a creation and a creation of a process.” Her ever-evolving creative process involves electroacoustic free improvisation on piano, voice, modular synthesizers, and no-input mixing boards. Eginli’s work is often described as adventurous, daring, playful, and vibrant. Watching her perform, one can witness a dynamic sonic exploration, effortlessly shifting between organic and mechanical sounds while evoking a range of emotions, from tender and soft to dark and explosive.
Both her electroacoustic solo debut album, Field Recording in a Black Hole from WeirdCry Records, and her live improvised duo album, Explorers, with cellist Daniel Levin from EyesAndEars Records launched in the summer of 2024. This coincided with her invitation to perform at the New York Electroacoustic Music Festival and a two-month solo tour across the Northeast. Following her Midwest tour in fall 2024, Eginli’s third album ‘Clouds Carry Me to the Sky’ released in February 2025 by Purplish Records. With that, in spring 2025, Eginli will be touring in New York, Chicago, Berlin, Memphis, various cities in the Netherlands and participate at the Northwestern New Music Festival and Memphis Concrete – Experimental Electronic Music Festival.
In 2024, she returned to her home country, Turkey, to conduct workshops and performances at the Center for Advanced Studies in Music at Istanbul Technical University, Bahcesehir University and the Bilgi University New Music Festival. In 2023, Eginli was awarded a composer-performer residency at the Westben Centre for Connection & Creativity in Canada. That same year, she received a prestigious grant from the Alliance Theater, the largest theater company in the Southeast, as the lead artist for the multimedia project Hold on To Your Names.
As an entrepreneur and educator, Eginli is the founder and director of PianoAlpharetta, a renowned piano academy in Georgia, USA. With a 15-year legacy and a diverse faculty, this academy offers comprehensive piano education to over 400 students, fostering creativity and forward-looking learning. Eginli oversees all operations, supervises faculty and staff, serves as the President of the Johns Creek-Alpharetta chapter of the Federation of Music Clubs, and adjudicates at local and regional piano competitions.
Eginli holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance, with a research focus on piano pedagogy, from the University of Georgia, along with a master’s degree in piano performance from Purchase College, State University of New York, and a Bachelor’s degree from Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory in her hometown, Istanbul. A Nationally Certified Teacher of Music and a Royal Conservatory Certified Teacher, Eginli has taught students of diverse ages, backgrounds, and skill levels for over 20 years, in both private and collegiate settings.
Over the last two decades, Eginli has given hundreds of solo, chamber, and orchestral performances at prominent venues and festivals across Turkey, Austria, the Netherlands, Germany, Canada, Mexico and various U.S. cities. She continues to perform an average of 60 concerts annually, both as a solo improviser and in collaboration with other artists.
